42nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Banquet
More than 700 people gathered at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center on Jan. 15 to participate in the 42nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Banquet, hosted by Penn State’s Forum on Black Affairs (FOBA). This year’s commemorative theme was “Lift Every Voice: When Silence Becomes Betrayal.” The program featured Penn State University greetings from President Eric Barron and reflections from FOBA President Carlos Wiley. A Penn State “All In” diversity and inclusion video provided opportunities for discussion over dinner. The lineup also contained riveting performances by Penn State students, selections from the university’s renowned choir and award presentations. The event concluded with banquet participants joining hands while singing “We Shall Overcome.” Photos courtesy Steffen Blanco, Leslie Laing and Nadhir Muntaka.
