Feeding the masses

In March 2020, schools and other businesses across Centre County closed their doors in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a matter of days, YMCA of Centre County’s Anti-Hunger Program gathered the resources necessary to begin distributing food to community members in need. Since then, the program has distributed more than 7 million pounds of food and now hosts 21 large-scale food distributions every month.

In addition, the Y provides free food for school-age children through the Summer Lunch and Backpack Programs and has two mobile feeding vehicles that travel throughout the county to distribute food.

  1. The pandemic period was so scary. At that time every individual was facing different problems and especially the poor people were even struggling for food. Due to this many people were helping the poor to provide food. After reading this article I gone though the memory of that time. May God prevent us from any pandemic. Thank you for sharing this article.
