I really like and respect Mrs. Gall and her way of teaching. She makes it fun and memorable. Her phrase “Friends, voices at a zero,” is one that I will never forget and have used numerous times. She also uses “stealth” mode, which is quieter yet! She is always so pleasant and was born to be a teacher! Her students are very lucky. I believe when they reach my age, they will look back to second grade and remember her and the wonderful year they had with her, which is goal, to be remembered and cherished by your students for all you taught them.

  6. I nominate Angela Homan fro Rebersburg Elementary school Penns Valley Area School District.

Angela was a student of mine for 5 years in French. It has been my pleasure to watch her advocate for her students in every way possible way. She was a finalist for teacher of the year in PA. I have the greatest respect for her as she did for me when I was her teacher. she has been asked to present in numerous conferences for her idea to create a breakfast program in an area that is under-served.

I would like to nominate Shannon Kolenik for this award. She teaches English classes at State High and she is the reason I still feel motivated to learn everyday. I was in Ms. Kolenik’s English class in 9th grade, and after the kindness and motivation from her teaching and feedback, I asked her to supervise my independent study on various genres of literature, which she did on a voluntary basis. Throughout the majority of COVID, I looked forward to my virtual meetings with her and I learned more and more as she planned lessons for me and helped me refine my writing. In the last 11 years, my favorite teachers have been the ones who clearly care about what they’re teaching and Ms. Kolenik has that passion in abundance. Finally, she has supported me and many of my peers through a lot of personal struggles during some rough periods of high school. Once, I was clearly upset going into an independent study meeting and instead of going over my writing like we planned, she asked why I was upset, listened, and even gave me advice on some of my problems. Ms. Kolenik has been the most amazing support and inspiration these last few years, and isn’t that exactly what a teacher should be?

I completely agree with this sentiment; Miss Kolenik taught my English class two years ago and I have since chosen to continue working with her on other projects. She continuously pushes me, both personally and academically, to learn new things and explore unfamiliar concepts in my everyday life. Miss Kolenik has also been a very consistent source of support to me throughout the pandemic and into my junior year. I really appreciate her unparalleled passion for teaching and know that her involvement in the school community has undoubtedly caused a lasting, positive impact on the lives of many others.
